ou know her when you see her. She moves purposefully, her feet firmly on the ground. She is gracious, but doesn't make a lot of small talk. Her eyes light up when she speaks and she has a definite opinion. She is confident. She is vital. She is inspired.
Is she you?
It doesn't cost a thing to be inspired. We've seen stories of inspired women around the globe, some with significant financial resources, others with none.
The root meaning of the word inspire? "To breathe life into." Inspired women are full of life.
How do you get inspired? Many will tell you that you can read books or listen to motivational speakers. They will tell you a great story or send you a YouTube video. Maybe a quote?
But the truth is we are truly inspired (as in the kind of inspiration that sticks around long after the song is over or the video stops playing) only from within. The inspired woman doesn't need to "get" inspiration from anyone. She simply is, because she knows who she is, what she cares about and that something can be done about it. That SHE can do something about it.
This form of inspired is born of experience and action. The experience comes from failures that lead to resilience and determination that lead to success. As women, we have to begin to be extraordinarily comfortable with the idea that this success can be fulfilling and financially rewarding.
We also have to get really cozy with the idea that to maintain the energy and drive of an inspired life requires the practice of extreme self-care. Burning the candle at both ends doesn't let you shine your light where it is needed. Ultimately, we must love ourselves as much as the things we care about, so that we can give them our best.
The inspired woman with money who loves herself can be like Oprah. She can build schools and change lives. She can be like Mother Theresa, who didn't hold on to money, but allowed it to flow through her to expand a small charity into a global mission. She can be like anyone of you... on fire.
And women like us inspire.
